Review Atlas V6 SUV

reviewing products

The VW Atlas, a three-row SUV with excellent cargo and seating space, is an affordable option. It is an excellent choice for families. However, it can also be fun to travel together or as a couple.

The Volkswagen Atlas may be a little overdue for an update, but it's still an attractive and well-built family SUV that's easy to drive. This model has many technology features and comes in several trim levels.

The V6 engine standard makes a good amount of power. It also has an easy eight-speed auto transmission. Although it doesn't have the same acceleration as its rivals, it will get you there with reasonable ease.

Although fuel economy is not the best, it's still better than the base SUVs from Honda or Kia. It can get 20 mpg inside the city and 25 on the highway. This isn't too bad.

Interior comfort is decent, with a quiet cabin and easy-to-use controls. The third-row seat offers enough legroom and shoulder room to accommodate adults. An ottoman can also be found on the rear seat that can be reclined and used as a storage area.

Driver assistance technologies are plentiful and helpful. Blind Spot Monitors and Rear Traffic Alerts will alert you when cars are within your blind spot. You can also use forward collision warning or autonomous emergency braking to avoid frontal collisions.

Although the infotainment system may not be as advanced as its competitors, it is intuitive and simple to use. There's a head-up display, an upgradable touchscreen, and smartphone compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Volkswagen considers safety a top priority, and the Atlas reflects this. The standard suite contains active safety technologies such as lane departure warning, pre-collisionbraking system with pedestrian detection and adaptive cruise control with stop/go function. Upgrades to a sat-nav or heads-up display can be made with navigation.

A turbocharged, 2.0-liter fourcylinder produces 269 horsepower and 273 pounds of torque. The powerplant is available in both front-wheel and all-wheel drives and will tow 5,000 pounds.

EPA ratings are 21/25 mpg when you have front-wheel drive and twenty/24 mpg when you have all-wheel driving. While this rating is not the highest in class, it is higher than those for SUVs with four cylinder engines.

Exterior Style

The Atlas is tall and bulky, with square shoulders and a straight profile. It's more like a pickup truck than any full-size SUVs, and isn’t as stylish as the Kia Telluride (or Hyundai Palisade).

Price

The Atlas' starting MSRP is around $24,400 for a front-wheel-drive model with the standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder. You can find a V-6-powered model for about $1,650 more. A range of trims and options allow you to tailor your Atlas for any driving situation.
