Toyota vehicles were ranked fourth on the list of the Top Picks for 2021. Green Choice was the new name for low-carbon vehicles. Prius is among the other top picks. The list has been there for 18 years.

Brands ranked highest

Consumer Reports claims that a car that has less problems is better. The brand's reliability can be judged by its reliability index. Consumer Reports compared 28 car brands in reliability testing. Each brand needed two models. With a combined score totaling 80, Porsche, Genesis and Subaru were the top four brands. A car is more reliable that other types of vehicles, according to the top five brands.


Consumer Reports continues to pick the Toyota hybrid powertrains as the best low-emissions option. The magazine also included Toyota's hybrid model in its Green Choice awards, for the second consecutive year. Toyota has yet to produce a fully electric vehicle. It is expected that the first fully electric car will be available later in the year. The vehicle is still under development by the company. Until then, Toyota leads the hybrid car category. Toyota has been the top car maker for the past six years, but it is still far from a fully electric car.

Models ranked lowest

As Mazda grows, Mazda's reliability suffers. While the G70's reliability is good, the GV80's overall score is lower due to issues with the infotainment screen, drive system, and steering wheel. Other brands, such as Cadillac and Chrysler, have improved from the previous year. The RDX for instance, although improving from below average to above average, continues to have issues with the transmission as well as the display screen. Nissan's reliability rating has dropped from a high-profile 2011 ranking to its lowest-ever rating of 2014.

Subaru topped the 2022 Brand Report Card. Audi, Mazda Land Rover, Porsche, Land Rover and Jeep were all other brands. Luxury brands were, however, relegated to below average rankings. Below-average rankings were given to luxury brands such Mercedes-Benz (Audi, Volvo, Jaguar) There is good news for luxury brand drivers.
